who IS this guy??
who the FUCK is this man i have never seen him in my life, you may be saying to yourself. to answer that question, this is will from pokemon GSC/HGSS. in the main series he has no more than 5 lines of dialogue, but that never stopped me from fixating on him for over 5 years. god help me.
so, what is his deal? he's the first member of the elite four in all games he appears in. he doesnt really have an awful lot of personality in the games... but... uh... i like him anyway. his cool mask has captivated me. at least he has more personality in masters. in masters, hes a bit of a weirdo- he fucks with the player using his psychic powers- oh yeah, he's a psychic. i forgot to mention that. he also gets accused of being a member of the evil team because of his mask, and instead of actually denying it, he decides to put on a show for all the spectators and battle the player. i love this guy.
why do you like him so much?
admittedly, i hadnt actually played hgss when i realized will existed. i was going through bulbapedia looking for a reference when i found his page and instantly decided: i must draw this guy. so i did. he was among one of my favorite pokemon designs for a while, but not really my favorite characters list. once i played hgss, i decided i loved this dude more than anything on the planet. this was, coincidentally, right around the time pokemon masters was revealed. and you know who was gonna be in that game? WILL.
i got him within the first week of launch, and that is when the insanity truly began. i used will on every stage. i beat every stage with will. i fell head over heels for this fictional scrimblo.
this obscure pokemon character basically carried me through 2020-21. those were the worst years of my life, but at least i could sit down and draw will whenever i felt down. it sounds kind of pathetic and sad when you say it out loud, but thats truly how i feel. even though im feeling much better nowadays and dont think about him nearly as much as i once did, he has a special spot in my heart.

1. will is blind and missing an eye. source: trust me bro
2. will is genderfluid. because in crystal his gender is listed as female for some reason. they were cooking in the year 2000
3. will and lucian are brothers. both purple haired formal psychic elite four members in two regions close together. and im supposed to believe they arent related?
4. will and grimsley know each other. thats it. thats the headcanon.
