Aretia

About

Aretia is a young man from a small region off the coast of Hoenn. He often finds his emotions controlling him, rather than vice versa, but he's gotten pretty good at managing it. He constantly finds himself obsessing over small details, from cleanliness to his own moral compass. Most of the time, he's pretty good about hiding this, though. Only those closest to him know about his daily struggles.

But when a strange Pokemon called Deoxys crash lands in the region, his stress goes off the charts. It's an alien that hurt Rayquaza- a Pokemon he is very attatched to. Not to mention, it's literally a living virus. A virus taller than he is that could probably kill him instantly, intentionally or unintentionally. He decides that the best course of action is to take matters into his own hands and destroy it. Viruses aren't living beings, anyway, so what's the problem with what he plans to do?

Personality

He tries his best to be polite and kind to people around him, even if sometimes his stress causes him to lash out at people he cares about. Though, he isn't close to many people to begin with... He doesn't have a good relationship with his parents, let alone the rest of his family, and he struggles to form new relationships.

While likeable, he finds himself struggling to deeply connect with people. He would like to, yes, but most of the time, he feels like he doesn't care very much about the other person involved. Not to mention, he finds himself not being able to read their emotions very well.

He obsesses over his own percieved oddities, like his tics and strange habits. He has a tendancy to beat himself up.

Design Notes

- The "face paint" under his eyes are actually tattoos. Ouch!

- He has other tattoos, mostly on his arm and back, meant to resemble Rayquaza's markings.

- The red part of his hair is dyed. The black part is his natural color.

- The highlights in his eyes can be removed for dramatic effect.

- He's a trans man, but he hasn't had top surgery. He doesn't bind most of the time since his regular outfit covers his chest anyway.

Trivia

- He is an avid shiny hunter. He was inspired to start shiny hunting when he caught a shiny Goomy as a kid.

- The markings under his eyes are meant to resemble Jirachi.

- His sneakers were initially an elaborate joke about Asuka R. Kreutz that stuck.

- His voiceclaim is Spinel from Pokemon Horizons (Matthew Mercer.)

- He's a really good singer, though he doesn't really do anything with his skill.
